SEATTLE -- Mariners manager Eric Wedge sustained what the club called a "very mild stroke," but he was released from the hospital on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery. The 45-year-old Wedge was hospitalized Monday when he complained about light-headedness during batting practice. He missed the entire three-game series against Cleveland, but after a battery of tests was sent home from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, the Mariners said in a statement. "We are happy to announce that Eric Wedge has been released from the hospital," the statement said. "He is home with his family resting and feeling well. "After much testing the doctors believe he suffered a very mild stroke. The doctors expect that he will have a full and complete recovery." Wedge, the Mariners manager since 2011, wont be in uniform for the Mariners upcoming four-game series against Minnesota and he wont go on the next road trip to Boston and Baltimore. "What he needs to do is stay home for a short period of time. We expect him to be back sooner than later," general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "Hes excited. He sounds normal. I talked to him and it sounds like everything is fine and he is ready to roll. "We are going to err on the side of caution, and I think the common sense thing is to have Eric rest. It makes sense that he doesnt take this trip to the East Coast." Zduriencik said Wedge will be evaluated further the next 10 days. Bench coach Robby Thompson will continue to fill in for Wedge, who was the Indians manager from 2003-09. "Im sure there is a lot of concern out there," Thompson said. "Eric is a very caring man and loves every one of those guys in that clubhouse. I think they have that in return for him." Zduriencik and Thompson addressed the team and provided an update on Wedge after the Mariners 10-1 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday. "Any situation like this that arises, there is concern," Thompson said. "We put our hearts, thoughts and prayers into him and Kate and their extended families. "Fortunately, it was a mild stroke but from here they know what to work with and what to do with him to work his way back." Seattle shortstop Brendan Ryan stressed that Wedge should take his time and not try to rush back to the dugout. "Come back in his own time," Ryan said. "We will be thinking of him and he will be with us, so the sooner he gets back the better. "We just wish him the best, speedy recovery." Wedge has been a staunch supporter of many of the Mariners younger players, and now they are offering their support to him. "Its not just me. Its a lot of guys in here," first baseman Justin Smoak said. "A lot of guys, and hes stuck with us a long time now. Hes going to get through this, and we look forward to have him back." The loss Wednesday was Seattles first since July 12 and it ended the Mariners season-high, eight-game winning streak. Clevelands Scott Kazmir allowed just one hit in eight innings, Michael Bourn hit his first career grand slam, and the Indians salvaged the final game of the three-game series. The only hit Kazmir (6-4) gave up was a clean leadoff single to centre by Smoak in the fifth. Kazmir struck out seven, walked two and allowed an unearned run. "He was a different pitcher than in Cleveland," Thompson said of Kazmir, who allowed five runs and seven hits in three innings against the Mariners on May 20. "He looked like he was the old Kazmir. "Great life on his fastball, location and command of it. That made his secondary stuff even better. Velocity was probably up 4-to-5 mph from when we saw him in Cleveland."Craig Kimbrel Jersey . -- Adam Snyder returned to the San Francisco 49ers this season because the offensive lineman thought it was his best opportunity to win a championship. Every sport has officials and they also have stories about hard work and sacrifice but their accomplishments are seldom recognized by anyone outside their inner circle.Surrey Stars 135 for 4 (Beaumont 47) beat Yorkshire Diamonds 134 for 5 (Armitage 43) by six wicketsScorecard Tammy Beaumont and Nat Sciver displayed all of their international experience in steering Surrey Stars to their first Kia Super League victory, chasing down the 135 set for them by Yorkshire Diamonds with six wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. In front of 2250 people at The Oval, England opener Beaumont compiled an assured 47, contributing to stands of 65 for the first wicket with Bryony Smith and 57 for the third with Sciver, who was unbeaten on 29 when clobbering the winning runs behind square leg.Earlier, Alex Hartley was crucial with the ball. The visitors had gotten off to a flyer, 72 without loss at the half way mark with Hollie Armitage and Lauren Winfield batting with ease. It was the left-arm spinner who removed them both in the space of three balls, Winfield caught and bowled for 29 then Armitage bowled for 43.It was the catalyst for an excellent second ten overs for the hosts, restricting the Diamonds to 5 for 62 in that period. Hartley was the clear stand out with 2 for 18 from her four overs without conceding a single boundary, while seamers Sciver and Rene Farrell bowled with considerable control at the death of the innings.Surreys fielding also improved dramatically, after twice dropping early chances Sciver executed a superb direct hit run out of dangerous Australian Beth Mooney, her throw released in one motion after completing a diving stop.In reply, Surreeys innings followed in a similar fashion to the first, the openers able to see off the initial threat from England spearhead Katherine Brunt before 19-year-old Smith took the quick for three consecutive boundaries in the fifth over to turbocharge the chase.ddddddddddddHer 50 stand with Beaumont was raised in 35 balls, and the score was 65 before Yorkshire made their first breakthrough when Smith was deceived one of Jenny Gunns myriad slower balls, a top edge taken at short third man.A sharp stumping from Mooney, also off the bowling of Gunn, removed No. 3 Cordelia Griffith shortly thereafter, bringing Sciver to the crease to join Beaumont with a further 62 needed at just under a run a ball. But it was the pace of Brunt that again helped the batting side when it mattered most, 13 taken from the 14th over (including three wides) to take Surrey score beyond 100, making the final result a relative formality. After the hard work was done Beaumont holed out with five required for victory, appropriate reward for offspinner Steph Butler who impressed in her first game of the tournament. With two losses to start the start their season, Yorkshire now have no margin for error. Their next fixture is at Southampton on Monday against the Southern Vipers.Meanwhile for the winners, after squaring their ledger at one and one they play the Western Storm on Sunday at Bristol. ' ' '
