RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane said he heard from San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last week after Lane sat during the national anthem prior to the teams fourth preseason game.He reached out to me and just told me thank you, standing behind me, Lane said.Lanes decision came less than a week after Kaepernick first sat in protest of American racial injustice and minority oppression.Lane said he plans to continue to sit going forward. Asked if he expects any teammates to join him, Lane said, I dont know. I dont want to put any pressure on anyone. Im doing it for me.In coordination with his protest, Kaepernick said he will donate $1 million to various causes. Lane said he didnt know if he would follow suit.I havent thought about that, Lane said. Not saying I wont, but I havent thought about that.Lanes teammates said they stand behind him.I think its his right to be able to protest, and I think its all right, defensive end Michael Bennett?said. Theres definitely some issues in America that a lot of people are starting to recognize. I think people have recognized them before, but I think with social media and the things that are going out, the media outlets, everybody has a chance to really show what is going on and their ideas and really having a chance to really protest what they think is wrong with America. And thats OK. Thats what its about. Its about people having that right to have their voice, and I think its cool that Jeremy Lane is doing what he wants to do. Obviously, theres so much going on right now in America. Footballs just a small part of what we do. At the end of the day, well be football players for 12 years or 10 years or whatever it is. But at the end of the day, were still minorities and black men in America, and thats what were going to be for the rest of our life. And if you want to protest about things that are going on, thats fine.Added safety Kam Chancellor:?I havent talked to him about it. I really dont know what to say about that. Thats his own beliefs and his own thing he wants to do. Hes supporting somebody he believes is doing it for the right cause and the right reasons. So thats just freedom of speech.Bennett said Seahawks players and coaches talk often about the issues Lane and Kaepernick are protesting. Its not just the African-American players. Its the white players too, Bennett said. They all see it, and we talk about it. Its good. Its good that we can have a conversation about it, and people dont get angry and people understand where people are coming from, and you just understand both sides of it.Roquan Smith Youth Jersey .com) - The red-hot Los Angeles Kings will try to extend their winning streak to a season-high seven games when they visit the Edmonton Oilers for Sundays clash at Rexall Place. As he recorded his 23rd and 24th points of the evening, a segment of the sellout Air Canada Centre crowd expressed their appreciation for the Raptors point guard with a smattering of MVP chants.A pair of aces take to the mound on Sunday heading in opposite directions, while many mid-tier starters find themselves in unenviable matchups. Which starters deserve a spot on your fantasy team, and which teams have the hitting matchups to target in DFS contests? We break down the entire slate in our Daily Notes.PitchingEliteThe American League Cy Young award race is wide open, and one of the candidates, Corey Kluber, will state his case Sunday. The Cleveland Indians righty was slow out of the gate but since June 1, hes spun a 2.32 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP, supported by a 9.1 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9. For the past month, Klubers boasted a 1.76 ERA, emulating the second half push that netted him the 2014 award. Sunday will be a challenge with the explosive Toronto Blue Jays closing out a set in Cleveland. The visitors have taken a hit without Jose Bautista and have been missing Josh Donaldson the first two games of the series. Even if the All-Star third baseman returns, Kluber is the top option on the card and in play for everyone favoring to pay up for pitching in all DFS formats.Going in the opposite direction as Kluber is Noah Syndergaard. Its not as if hes stinking up the joint, but a 4.08 ERA and 1.57 WHIP for the past month is very un-Thor like. In fact, Syndergaard hasnt lasted more than six innings since July 3, spanning seven outings. Of course, this has coincided with the news Syndergaard is working with bone chips in his throwing elbow. It doesnt get any easier for the 23-year-old right-hander as hell take the hill in AT&T Park against the grinding San Francisco Giants. If youre paying for pitching, Kluber has a safer floor and higher ceiling than Syndergaard, something that would have raised eyebrows during the first couple of months of the season.SolidDrew Smyly is reminding many why hes so highly thought of when hes healthy. The leftys strikeout rate is off from last years double-digit mark, but the pitch efficiency is allowing Smyly to work deeper into games. Despite making some moves to improve their lineup versus southpaws, the Texas Rangers have been below average, especially on the road. Factor in that the contest will be in Tropicana Field, a pitcher-friendly venue, and Smyly is in a good spot to keep his second-half roll going.Since moving into the Kansas City Royals rotation, Danny Duffy has started 18 games, recording a stellar 2.68 ERA and 0.95 ERA. Add in a 9.6 K/9 and a 1.7 BB/9 and that looks eerily like a Jake Arrieta line. Obviously, Duffy needs more than 18 starts to be talked about in those terms, but save for the change of scenery for Arrieta, their career arcs are pretty similar. Next up for the 27-year old southpaw is the Minnesota Twins in Kauffman Stadium. The visitors hit lefties hard, but they also offer some strikeout upside, making Duffy worth paying for in GPP tournaments.Heading back to the senior circuit was supposed be the elixir for Jeff Samardzija. While he hasnt been terrible, the return hasnt been as triumphant as many hoped. With a quarter of the season left, theres still plenty of time for the Shark to make a difference, beginning with a home affair against the scuffling New York Mets. Yoenis Cespedes is back, but even so, Samardzija should be able to do his part to keep the game close while his teammates take aim at Syndergaards throws. When Gio Gonzalez throws strikes, good things usually happen. The Washington Nationals inconsistent southpaw has been in control lately, issuing no more than two free passes in his past six outings. Considering the opposing Atlanta Braves are the third-least patient club in the league with a lefty on the hill, Gonzalez is in a great spot to keep the streak intact. Theres not a ton of strikeout upside, but even so, Gonzalez is a fine complementary arm on DFS sites requiring multiple pitchers.StreamersSunday offers bad news for those looking for a diamond in the rough to stream on the last day of most head-to-head scoring periods. Despite half the field landing in the spot-starting range with a projected game score between 46 and 52, those in enticing spots are few and far between. Of course, needs trump analysis, so do what you have to do. If youd like a little more help with an option not featured, please post in the comments or shoot a Tweet to @ToddZola and Ill be happy to share my thoughhts.ddddddddddddCiting Jhoulys Chacin as a streamer is proof positive there is a dearth of options. The Los Angeles Angels righty has fared no better than Tim Lincecum, the guy whom he replaced in the rotation. However, the revamped New York Yankees are largely right-handed and incur a huge park downgrade in the Halos home park. If youre desperate for a win, the Angels sticks should provide some run support with Chad Green taking the hill for the visitors.Since entering the San Diego Padres rotation, Luis Perdomo has started only four of 13 games in Petco Park. Sunday marks his fifth as the Arizona Diamondbacks close out a series against their NL West brethren. Perdomo is a below-average hurler, but if youre in need of some punch outs and have some wiggle room with ratios, the Snakes are prone to swing and miss with a righty on the mound.Lost in the Rangers chase for a playoff spot is Martin Perezs lack of development this season. Perez is in a good spot to help his teams cause, facing the Tampa Bay Rays on the road in Tropicana Field. Perez enjoys a huge park boost along with facing a club that fans at a 25 percent clip against southpaws.AvoidDespite the lack of notable streaming options, everyone is in play on Sunday with the exception of four pitchers registering a projected game score 45 or below. Jorge De La Rosa is vulnerable to a powerful Chicago Cubs squad in Coors Field. Matt Garza really struggles with lefties and takes on a Seattle Mariners squad that sends up a parade of lefty swingers. The Pittsburgh Pirates are scuffling, but theyre still dangerous against Jose Urena, a righty that doesnt miss many bats, giving up a lot of hits. Henry Owens is talented, but the Boston southpaw needs to keep the walks under control if he wants to succeed in the big leagues.HittingThe Seattle Mariners are ninth overall in terms of runs per game, in large part because of the quality of their left-handed swingers. Theyre especially potent against pedestrian right-handers like Matt Garza. The formidable force begins with Nori Aoki and Seth Smith setting things up for Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager. Adam Lind is back in the teams good graces while Nelson Cruz is an option despite lacking the platoon edge.Among the many strengths of the Chicago Cubs is a balanced lineup, equally potent against righties and lefties. On Sunday, the righty swingers are in the spotlight, facing southpaw Jorge De La Rosa at Coors Field. Kris Bryant is the chalk play from the two-hole with Addison Russell usually hitting fifth followed by Jorge Soler. A large part of the Cubs success is having switch hitters lead off and clean up, giving Dexter Fowler and Ben Zobrist the platoon edge when the bullpen inevitably takes over.Jesse Hahn isnt ready to return, giving Zach Neal another start, this time against the Chicago White Sox. Neal is vulnerable to left-handed bats, and while the Pale Hose cant compete with the Mariners in terms of quality or quantity, Adam Eaton, Justin Morneau and J.B. Shuck comprise a stealth affordable stack for the contrarian crowd.Another contrarian option resides in the Steel City with the Pittsburgh Pirates facing Jose Urena. The Bucs arent an especially effective team to stack since their more of a grinding squad than home run threat but with Andrew McCutchens stick (and legs) showing signs of life in August, building a stack around a cheaply priced Cutch can reap benefits. John Jaso and Gregory Polanco are the choices with the platoon edge. Josh Harrison and?Starling Marte?are in play at the top of the order, despite being devoid of the platoon advantage. The Detroit Tigers are in a great spot with southpaw Henry Owens stepping in for Eduardo Rodriguez. Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez pose a formidable threat. Most likely to hit a homer: Hitting second on the road means Bryant will see plenty of plate appearances. Facing De La Rosa means hes in scoring position when he steps into the batters box. Theres a good chance one of those chances ends in a trot around the bases. Most likely to steal a base: The chance Dee Gordon gets on base with Ryan Vogelsong on the hill are pretty good. The chance he runs wild are almost 100 percent. ' ' '
