Ive been a Raptors broadcaster for the past 15 years and have dealt with three full-time GMs - Glen Grunwald, Rob Babcock, Bryan Colangelo along with Jack McCloskey and Wayne Embry, who served briefly on an interim basis. Things change, people change yet the job and pressure gets tougher and tougher on these guys. Believe me, theyre well-paid for dealing with the headaches and they know thats what they signed up for but I always feel a sense of compassion for their families and respect for the job they tried to do. Bottom line, you have to win and sometimes thats not even enough. As I reflect on my 30-plus years in basketball, I look at the men that are in executive positions and the men that coach and, time and time again, it still comes down to having a good owner, good president, good support staff, terrific players and ultimately, people that truly have an understanding of what it takes. No two jobs are equal and you, as the executive and/or coach, still reap what you sow in spite of how good or bad the circumstances and people are around you. You still define how it all shakes out. When you lose your job (and as I said, Ive seen it happen here three times with Raptors GMs), its a public failure and embarrassing for these men. Im sure Bryan Colangelo will have those solitary moments just like Glen and Rob had where you beat yourself up over your mistakes. You live and learn and get better. Look at Glen Grunwald in New York - he got that turned around. Some time in the next year or two, Colangelo will get another crack at it and my view is that hell be a little smarter, wiser, more patient and better from this experience. We all fail - most of us, not in the public spotlight - yet its all about growing and learning every day from our miscues. Something tells me that Colangelo will get another chance and, like Grunwald, will be a little more polished for the next challenge from the positives and negatives of the Toronto experience. Remember 10 per cent in life is what happens to you, 90 per cent is how you deal with it. My gut says hell get up off the mat. Failure is not fatal.Julian Draxler Jersey . The defence is doing its part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. MORITZ, Switzerland -- Fog prevented downhill racers from getting their Olympic dress rehearsal. The Dallas Cowboys are adding quarterback Mark Sanchez as the backup to rookie Dak Prescott while Tony Romo recovers from a back injury.A person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press on Saturday that Sanchez had agreed to a one-year contract that could be worth $2.5 million with incentives. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract cant be signed until Sunday.Sanchez reached a deal with the Cowboys the same day he was released by Denver as all NFL teams had to get their rosters to the 53-man limit for the regular season. Sanchezs release cleared him to join any team. The six-year veteran was acquired by the Broncos in the offseason after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler bolted to Houston in free agency. But the 29-year-old Sanchez couldnt beat out second-year pro Trevor Siemian, a seventh-round pick in 2015 from Northwestern.Dallas has to decide whether to place Romo on the injured reserve-return list after he broke a bone in his back in a preseason game at Seattle. Romo would miss the first seven games if hes on that list, and Sanchez could take that roster spot. The Cowboys placed running back Darren McFadden on the non-football injury list, sidelining their leading rusher from last season for at least the first six games. He broke his right elbow during the offseason. The move on McFadden wasnt a surprise because rookie Ezekiel Elliott, the fourth overall pick in the draft, is expected to start the Sept. 11 opener against the New York Giants. Alfred Morris, a two-time Pro Bowl runner who signed as a free agent before the draft, is Elliotts backup.Second-year quarterback Jameill Showers survived the initial round of cuts after a marginal showing in the preseason finale against Houston, but Sanchezs arrival could change his status. The Coowboys said they would be in the market for a veteran quarterback as soon as backup Kellen Moore broke his right ankle in a training camp practice.dddddddddddd They didnt make an immediate move, though, and Prescott had strong showings in the first two preseason games. When Romo went out unexpectedly just three plays into the third preseason game against the Seahawks, Prescott came in and led the Cowboys to a touchdown on his first full possession. The fourth-round pick from Mississippi State finished the preseason 39-of-50 passing (78 percent) for 454 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for two scores. The addition of Sanchez gives Prescott a backup who has made 72 regular-season starts and played in two AFC championship games, with the New York Jets in 2009-10. Moore has already been placed on season-ending injured reserve.Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson, who signed before the preseason finale in case Showers got hurt, was among those waived.Tight end Rico Gathers, who is making the transition from basketball after not playing football since eighth grade, was waived. The former Baylor basketball standout is likely headed to the practice squad if no other team claims him.The Cowboys waived a pair of former fifth-round picks in receiver Devin Street (2014) and defensive end Ryan Russell (2015).Defensive end Mike McAdoo was placed on the waived-injured list despite a strong showing in the preseason finale.Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence was placed on the reserve-suspended list. He will miss the first four games for violating the NFLs substance-abuse policy.---AP NFL websites: http://pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
